General conference is always my favorite. Every session. The kids love church in our jammies (I love that, too.) But mostly, I have come to love the feast -- the chance to sit with my dear ones and be nourished by the good word of God. I love the traditions that have evolved around conference. I love the mess of blankets and pillows that ends up in the living room. I love the journals and pens. I love being with my family. We will miss Halley so much next year when she goes away to college -- she's one of the best snugglers at the conference celebration. And this year she braided my hair during the Sunday afternoon session - that was fun :)
We usually watch the Sunday morning session at my grandma's house with a big spread of breakfast. My grandma always makes oatmeal waffles, my mom brings breakfast quiche, I brought orange rolls, and this year we got to enjoy the bacon from the pigs we (uncle Rob) raised. The kids really listened almost the whole time. They took notes (pretty much the most precious thing ever) and drew pictures. And we all just loved it. I felt like I wanted to weep when it was over.
I love the prophets and apostles. I am so thankful for their counsel. Our family has been especially blessed by Elder Scott's talk -- I love his simple, but firm suggestions for making faith our priority.
