Secret Garden of Abundance

I have a predilection for repetition. I put songs on repeat. I eat foods on repeat (currently Samoas Girl Scout cookies (help me!)). And I read things on repeat. For the last three nights, no. Wait. Tonight is the fourth. For the last four nights I've hunkered into bed with my conference Ensign, dog-eared to the eighty fourth page.

Finding Joy In The Journey is the chosen (and re-chosen) discourse. Thanks, Natalie.

It calms the parts of my soul that get restless with stay-at-home-dom. The parts that get disgruntled -- that want more time, more quiet, more productivity, more clean, more attention, less pee on the non-toilet-bowl parts of the toilet -- it gruntles those parts right back into perspective.

Favorite quotes:
From the ancient Roman philosopher Horace, “Whatever hour God has blessed you with, take it with grateful hand, nor postpone your joys from year to year, so that in whatever place you have been, you may say that you have lived happily.

And:
Both abundance and lack [of abundance] exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend . . . when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that’s present—love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature, and personal pursuits that bring us [happiness]—the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience heaven on earth.

This weekend was quite heaven-on-earthly. I am grateful.
