Easter 2014

A few days before Easter Nana came over with a big bag of plastic eggs and we decorated an Easter tree in the yard.  It was magical to sit at the dining room table and see the maple outside bedazzled with pastels.  Nana is so good at making life fun.  We had such a fun afternoon with her.  Can't wait to repeat the tradition next year  :)

I'm still a little conflicted about how to celebrate Easter.  I push back against the commercialism -- we hardly do baskets (this year I did one tiny basket for the kids to share.)  We don't do a lot of candy.  I just can't bring myself to commercialize Easter like every other gimmicky holiday.
But I want it to be special.  I want to surround it with tradition and meaning and specialness.  I'm still honing in on how that might look and feel for us.  This year we decorated bunny and egg shaped sugar cookies and shared a plate with our dear elderly neighbor, Sister Fleeger.  It was a good start :)
