A Big Weekend at Bloom

Benson & Claire: bubbles to stay busy during 3 hours of daily dialysis

We're hosting an online silent auction over at Bloom this weekend. It's for a sweet, sweet cause - two of them actually: Benson & his little sister, Claire.

As explained by their parents, "Benson and Claire were born with a rare genetic disease in which their liver produces too much oxalate--called primary hyperoxaluria. Claire's condition has progressed much faster than Benson's. She has been on dialysis since she was 3 months old and is on dialysis 3 hours a day, 6 days a week. She is now on the waiting list to receive a combined kidney / liver transplant. It is expected Benson will eventually need similar transplants."

You can read more about the Skinners' experience HERE. (givehopetobensonandclaire.blogspot.com) (Take a tissue!)

Please click over to Bloom and take a look at what's available (there are some fantastic things!) Maybe there's a li'l something that would bring you nearer to completing your Christmas shopping. Or maybe something you'd like to keep for yourself. In the spirit of Christmas and love and generosity...come look and bid. (Auction will begin Thursday morning and end Saturday night at 10 pm EST)

All proceeds will go directly to Claire's COTA (Children's Organ Transplant Association) account to help pay for her transplant.

Check it all out, here!

  1. I just love Claire's expression watching Benson blow a huge bubble - such concentration, and a 'humpf, that was big?' thought!! My own thoughts are with her, especially with my daughter having the same name. And of course with Benson too. None of it can be much fun, but it's good to see the children just getting on with it.
