Pictures from our Friday afternoon "cookie picnic" on the back porch.
I love Texas in February.
Lily wanted a cookie so bad!
Pretty cute.

I have a lot on my mind. Many things I'd like to write about. And I will, eventually. But right now Henry needs breakfast (and so do I). So I will just say one thing:

Mandy, you are the (randomly selected) lucky winner of one brand new copy of YNAB Pro personal budgeting software! I am really excited for you! I really think you will love it! Please e.mail me your most current contact details (you have my e.address, no?)

I wanted all of you to win. This makes me want to do more giveaways...such fun!
I have some good news to impart: Jesse e.mailed me last week and said that he would give a 10% discount code to all of you, so stay tuned for that if you're interested in ordering a copy.

I loved reading about your budgeting desires. I am by no means an expert on this stuff, but I am quite familiar with YNAB and would be happy to answer any additional questions that you have. Also, if there are budget details you'd like to know...ask away. I'd love to write additional posts about this, or if you prefer the privacy of an e.mail dialog, I've already responded to a few questions in personal e.mails (talktoemilyanne AT gmail DOT com).

Happy Monday. Thanks (again) for being my blog friends. I like you. Very much.

  1. Ok lots of things to say about this.

    1. We bought YNAB at the first of the year so we've been doing it (as you know) for almost 2 months now. And it's awesome and it's way better then Quicken and it's really helping. With starting a business it started to be a requirement that we knew where everything was going. We should have started a long time ago seeing as we probably would have had a lot more in savings from Mark's last job which paid us way more then we needed. But we are so happy where we are now... definitely room for financial improvement but we're getting there. And it's never too late to start budgeting. And the best part.... Mark's always been opposed to budgeting (kind of against his very nature) but he's loving it now. It really helps you feel more liberated and in control. Jesse's theories are wonderful.

    2. I read through your comments on the giveaway post and I think a common misconception that people have is that it takes so much time. That's what we used to think but what we've found is that it takes us 15 minutes a WEEK. We sit down every Sunday night, upload our accounts, categorize, see where we are and then we're done.

One question. Once a month you need to set-up your budget again, right? (give every dollar a job), so that meeting takes a little more time. Maybe an hour. But hopefully we'll get faster? So time isn't really an excuse! And besides YNAB is so easy to use your at a disadvantage if you don't.

    3. Jesse is so great. I just like it better because I like Jesse (and his family) ;) Pretty much can't wait for our funds like "yard improvement" and "furniture" start filling up so I can go buy some stuff. That'll be fun!

    4. Um, I wish I could have come over to your cookie picnic... I've been eating way too much junk, so it's probably best we live so far apart... I guess I could have snacked on Lily instead!
